Reduction of 6% Waste, 7% Increase in Output

While producing our muesli bars, we encountered a disruption with a specific product group. Due to insufficient flow of raw materials along the sides during the forming process, the dosing on the sides was inadequate.

As a result, the bars on the sides could not be properly formed. The outcome: bars on both sides did not meet the required mass, making them unsellable.

The rejection rate and consequently the waste during these production runs was 6%.

RSS Surface Technology advised us to apply the RSS Ceramic coating to the hopper where the product is introduced.

The results were as promised. The product experiences less resistance and the sides are well-filled. As a result, all produced bars are now at the desired weight, allowing us to use the entire product.

This intervention saves us on disposal and reprocessing costs. Additionally, it increases our output by 7%.

When applying the intended RSS Ceramic coating to the part, we encountered a problem. Due to a previously applied Teflon coating, the RSS Ceramic coating could not be applied. RSS Surface Technology excellently resolved this for us by having this coating removed by a partner.
