Frequently asked questions — RSS Ceramic Coating for the food industry

Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about RSS Ceramic Coating, PFAS-free surface treatment and compliance in the food industry.

The Dutch National Plan for Drinking Water Savings (IenW, 2024) requires large commercial water users to achieve a 20% reduction in drinking water use before 2035. RSS Ceramic Coating measurably reduces water consumption with each cleaning cycle. We document the results in a report you can use for your water savings file with your water supplier, parent company or customers.

The revised IED (2024/1785) comes into force in the Netherlands on 1 July 2026. Companies are required to apply stricter emission limit values for wastewater discharge based on Best Available Techniques (BAT). Less cleaning chemicals in wastewater — through better anti-adhesion surfaces — is precisely the BAT measure inspectors expect to see. RSS coating measurably helps you reduce the chemical load in your wastewater stream.

Yes. RSS Ceramic Coating fully complies with EU regulations for materials in contact with food. The coating is based on silicon dioxide — the same material as sand — and contains no fluorine compounds, no PFAS and no migrating substances above legal limits. Migration test reports are available on request, ready for use in your IFS, BRC or HACCP file.
